A spooky season

The wind is howling in Jefferson, Iowa. It sounds like a singing saw. The heavy front door swings open and tinsel goes flying out before the door slams shut, leaving bright blue tentacles waving in the breeze. I’ve given up hope on displaying my a-frame sign advertising Monday’s story-time outside, as it almost blew into the street earlier this week. Napkins and I are hunkering down in our cozy shop as we await the next community member seeking shelter from the wind in the comforts of paper goods and early 2000s music. Welcome to October at Warm Wishes.

As I write this, I realize our grand opening celebration took place exactly two months ago. Two months! I’ve welcomed the transition to fall, especially since it led to the full Halloween display takeover in the store. Since my last post, the store has received visitors from Leadership Iowa, hosted a lovely art making experience with Ames artist, Susan Norris, and provided a fabulous fall story-time with Misty Bettey. The upstairs construction is…still underway… but nearing its welcome conclusion.

On that note, let’s look to the week ahead! Darcy Hathaway is returning for a very special Monday story-time on Monday, October 17 at 10:30am. This will be followed by a craft time.

The upstairs apartments are having a ribbon cutting and open house that Monday from 4:00-6:00pm. Warm Wishes plans to not only be open on a Monday but to also stay open late! Our Monday, October 17, hours are 10:30am-6:00pm. The store will be closed Friday, October 21.

Jewel tone painted pumpkins

We are also raffling away our bold pumpkin patch. Anyone shopping in store between now and Monday night can enter the raffle for their choice of painted pumpkin. Make sure to follow on social media for regular updates and fun photos.

Windy wishes,

Kristin
