Warm winter wishes

Warm winter wishes

I’ve sat down to write this blog a few times and I’m finding myself easily distracted this holiday season. I feel pulled in many directions as I think about planning December events or promoting all the new holiday cards or gifts in stock. Most days I just want to lie under the covers and cuddle up with a good book, especially as it’s getting colder and windier. Was Jefferson always this windy?! But I know many of you want to know what’s been going on at the store (or are at least humoring me), so here we go!

Last weekend was Small Business Saturday. It was lovely to see so many people on the square shopping locally. My friend and calligraphy artist, Queena Hoang, engraved custom ornaments for Warm Wishes shoppers (examples here) and I’m so excited for people to receive them as gifts this season. As you can imagine, our pink tree is still a hit and if you’re local, you’ll have to come to this weekend’s Winter Festival: Celebration of Trees to see a second pink Warm Wishes tree in action!

We also have a Letters to Santa mailbox outside the store right now- make sure to include your return address so Santa can write back! The mailbox will be out until Tuesday, December 13. I’ve seen people of all ages tucking their letters into the mail slot this week.

Looking ahead, I’m planning two events this month. The first is next week:

Holiday Card Writing
Thursday, December 8, 7:00pm

Bring your holiday cards (or if you need to buy some here I won’t say no) and spend the evening in cozy company writing cards, sipping cider, and checking a holiday task off your list. Stamps will also be available for purchase.

Holiday Story Time
Saturday, December 17

Darcy Hathaway is returning for a holiday storytime Saturday, December 17. More info as we get closer but it’s sure to be a festive affair!

Warm Wishes will be open on Sundays in December from 12:00-3:00pm. Our online store remains open all of the time for those midnight shopping urges. I’ve noticed that packages are already taking a little longer to get to their destinations, so if you know you want to place a holiday order, sooner is better!

Thank you for all your continued support of this little dream. It’s wild to me that we’re nearing the end of 2022 but more on that another time.

As always

Warm wishes from Iowa,

Kristin
